Players interested in our teams can attend one of our ID Camps. If your child does not fall within the age group specified, or if those dates do not work for you, please contact our Girls Selects Director, Kathy Pippy.
When are tryouts?
We only hold tryouts for our first year with a particular age group, which is the second-year PeeWee (U-12) Girls. After this year, we will invite players for each subsequent year based on their performance during the spring and scouting reports from their winter seasons. Players are invited back each subsequent year based SOLELY on performance and character.
Where do I mail my payment in (if not paying online via credit card)?
Please send payments to (Make sure you include your Order #):
Legacy Global Sports Department 5080 P.O. Box 4110 Woburn, MA 01888-4110 USA
How many players do you carry on a roster?
Our standard roster for a tournament is 17 players (2G, 6D, 9F)
How do you select your coaches?
We take the selection of our coaches seriously and are committed to using non-parent coaches who are both professional and strong role models for young athletes. Our Selects teams are coached by people who have played the game at the junior, college or professional levels. The head instructors at our Elite Camps are all NCAA coaches, NHL coaches or scouts, AHL coaches, and/or major Junior (CHL) coaches. Every year we have a blend of all four of these leagues at our Elite Camps.
How often does each team practice?
Our teams normally practice 2-3 times each Spring during the "Training camp" portion of the European Tour. We do not generally practice otherwise due to our players coming from a large geographic area.
How does the Selects Hockey program provide exposure?
Our staff and camp instructors consist of coaches and scouts involved in various levels of hockey (amateur, junior, NCAA and professional). Our network of contacts has initiated or solidified opportunities for our players/alumni with NCAA and international teams. We are committed to helping our families in any way possible to garner hockey opportunities for our players.
Is the Selects Hockey program affiliated with any winter organizations? Are parents involved?
A fundamental principle of our program is that we are completely independent of winter hockey clubs and have NO parent involvement. Our coaches are all non-parents whom have played and/or coached the game at higher levels (collegiate, major junior and professional). This independence allows us to run our program in an objective manner; simply put, we have ZERO politics behind our program- the best players will be invited, period.
If my daughter tries out and is selected for the team, does she need to attend the overseas tour?
Historically there will always be a player or two that come to the tryout knowing that they cannot go on the trip due to school or other reasons. We will select the team assuming everybody can come on the trip. We will also select several reserves who will be invited in the event that another player cannot attend the European tour. After the tryout, and after you see the team roster and see how we run our program, we are hoping that ALL the kids selected will be able to attend.
Does my daughter have to commit to do every event on the Spring schedule?
For the first Spring, we understand that some players may have other teams they have committed to prior to making our Selects team. We DO NOT mandate our players to do all events. Players’ selected can sign up for events from the Spring schedule in an “a la carte” fashion. We do hope that players selected will attend the tryout with an open agenda for the following Spring. We hope that families will want to be part of our organization in as many events as possible if invited. Players will get more benefit from our program based on a higher level of participation.
