Our Selects program has proved to be one of the most successful avenues for young hockey players to improve their skills, compete at the highest level and further their playing careers while offering world-class experiences to the athletes and their families. Countless Selects alumni have gone on to accomplish great feats both on and off the ice, and with our new Selects Spotlight, we look to promote those players and their success stories.

An ‘03-birth year defenseman, Tyler Procious played for our U-15 East Coast Selects-O team this spring. He was an integral part of ECS-O at the World Selects Invitational in Philadelphia, where the team went 9-0-0 and won the World Championship in May. For his efforts at the event, Procious was named to the all-tournament team alongside teammate Ben Gaudreau as the only representatives from ECS-O to make the list of 13 players to earn the honor.

“Just the way we won in overtime in the finals and the great group of players and coaches we did it with,” Procious said. “It was beyond amazing and something I will always remember.”

In the championship game, ECS-O scored the game-tying goal in the final seconds of regulation to force overtime. Then in overtime, scored again to complete the comeback and win the championship, their fourth victory of the tournament decided by just one goal.

Despite being a defenseman, Procious draws his hockey influences from one of the best forwards to ever play the game.

“I have been a Sidney Crosby fan from the start,” he said. “His selfless attitude and leadership ability to bring his teammates up is something I look up to.”

The 5-foot-9, 145-pound Procious now turns his attention to the winter season, looking forward to the challenges of playing for the U-16 Jr. Sabres in the Tier-I Elite Hockey League. His ultimate goal is to one day join our 472 other Selects alums, and make a Division-I college hockey commitment.
