Our Selects program has proved to be one of the most successful avenues for young hockey players to improve their skills, compete at the highest level and further their playing careers while offering world-class experiences to the athletes and their families. Countless Selects alumni have gone on to accomplish great feats both on and off the ice, and with our new Selects Spotlight, we look to promote those players and their success stories.
It was a pivotal moment, and Molly Jordan came through when her U-14 East Coast Selects needed her the most.
In the semifinal game at this year’s World Selects Invitational in Courmayeur, Italy, Jordan’s ECS squad had blown a lead late in the first period but battled back in the second half to tie the game at 2-2 with Ontario Selects.
Then, five minutes into the overtime session, Jordan scored her second goal of the tournament and first on the powerplay, pushing ECS on to the championship game later that same day.
“It meant a lot to me because it meant I would get to play one more game with my ECS teammates,” she said.
Jordan scored two goals and six points from the blue line, helping ECS go 6-1-0 and scoring the game-winning in the semifinal before falling to West Coast Selects, 2-1 in the championship game.
An active participant in many of our Selects events, Jordan was a member of the inaugural HHOF Future Legends Invitational in 2017, playing for Team Gretzky with some of the best ‘05s who competed in the event. She’s also been active in the Prep Prospects Showcase and the Music City Showcase in Nashville this August.
“My father is my biggest hockey influence because he introduced me to hockey and we always talk and watch hockey together,” she said. “Coach Tom O’Connor has also had a huge impact on my hockey. He has taught me what it takes to play at the next level.”
Currently playing for the Connecticut Jr. Huskies ‘05 Elite team, Jordan would like to one day play for a prominent prep school. She hopes to play Division-I college hockey and possibly the Olympics while working her way through veterinary school.
