Our Selects program has proved to be one of the most successful avenues for young hockey players to improve their skills, compete at the highest level and further their playing careers while offering world-class experiences to the athletes and their families. Countless Selects alumni have gone on to accomplish great feats both on and off the ice, and with our new Selects Spotlight, we look to promote those players and their success stories.

A current member of our ‘05 Ontario Selects, Kristen Kiggen is has been actively involved in many of our girls Selects events over the past two spring and summer seasons.

Last year, Kiggen was a member of our first-ever Hockey Hall of Fame Future Legends Invitational, an event that is quickly becoming a staple in the spring hockey calendar. Kiggen, among the many others involved in the inaugural event, will always be remembered as a pioneer for her efforts at the 2017 event.

In that tournament, Kiggen recorded two assists in five games from the blue line, helping Team Orr claim the championship.

While it was her first Selects experience — and a good one at that — the Future Legends Invitational would be far from her last, as she played for the Ontario Selects at the Girls’ North American Prospects Showcase in Rochester last month. Still building her hockey resume, Kiggen is active in Selects events like NAPS where Division-I college coaches and scouts fill the rinks.

Caroline Ouellette, four-time Olympic gold medalist with Team Canada, serves as motivation for Kiggen as the former professional hockey player represents what females can achieve in the sport of hockey.

After playing with the LSL Arsenal Boys AAA team last season, Kiggen now sets her goals on qualifying for the girls’ U-16 Quebec team while pursuing a scholarship to continue her education at a United States-based university.
