With 12 teams competing over the weekend, Selects Girls teams took home the gold medal in four of the five divisions at the Top Tier in Toronto and four more teams qualified for the championship game, claiming a silver medal as well.

The ‘05, ‘06 and ‘07 Divisions featured not one, but two Selects teams competing against each other in the final on Sunday. West Coast Selects defeated East Coast Selects in the ‘05 Division – a rematch of the U-14 World Selects Invitational earlier this Spring – with WCS edging out the win with 25 seconds remaining in overtime.

Both the ‘06 and ‘07 Divisions featured matchups between the Ontario Selects and the Jr. Selects, in which Ontario proved to be victorious in both championship games. The ‘04 Division pitted East Coast Selects against West Coast Selects in the semifinal, with WCS advancing in overtime only to play in the championship game which also went to overtime. The late-game heroics ended there for the ‘04 WCS though, as they lost the final game on Sunday and accepted the silver medal.

In all, eight Selects teams took first or second place at the Top Tier in Toronto. Considered one of the most competitive tournaments for the Spring/Summer season along with LEGACY Global Hockey’s North American Prospects Showcase (NAPS), Top Tier featured many scouts from Division-I NCAA schools including Boston College, Colgate University, Cornell University, Dartmouth College, Northeastern, Penn State University, Quinnipiac, RPI, Connecticut, New Hampshire and Wisconsin.
