The Selects program has had a long track record of success advancing players into the highest leagues in the world. From the NHL to Major Junior, Selects alumni are among the leaders in various leagues across North America. This week, we take a look across the hockey landscape to take a closer look at some of those standout performances.

Former ‘96 Sweden Selects forward William Nylander ended his highly-publicized holdout from the Toronto Maple Leafs and returned to the lineup last week. The 22-year-old signed a six-year contract extension worth $6.9 million per year on December 1st — five minutes before the 5 p.m. deadline — and has appeared in two games after missing the team’s first 28 of the 2018-19 season.

Tye Felhaber was among the OHL’s Three Stars of the Weekend after he tallied two goals and an assist on Sunday. The former ‘98 East Coast Selects-Q forward has scored in six consecutive games for the Ottawa 67’s and is tied for third in the league in scoring.

Former ‘99 West Coast Selects goaltender Kyle Keyser came up with this spectacular save against the Mississauga Steelheads over the weekend. Now with the Oshawa Generals, the 6-foot-2 netminder has the highest save-percentage in the OHL at 0.931 and a 2.34 goals-against average.

Jamieson Rees scored a big game-tying goal for Sarnia on Saturday night against Kingston. That goal sparked the infamous Teddy Bear Toss fundraiser in which the Sarnia Sting collected 3,910 stuffed animals to benefit the Salvation Army. The former ‘01 East Coast Selects-O forward missed two months of the season due to injury, but now has seven points in nine games.

The USHL announced rosters for the 2019 USHL/NHL Top Prospects Game, with four former Selects alumni among the group of two teams. Matias Maccelli (‘oo Finland Selects) and Zac Jones (’00 East Coast Selects-O) will skate for Team East while a pair of former Selects Academy players Ethan Phillips and Shane Pinto will play for Team West.
