With more than 250 Selects alums across Division-I men’s and women’s hockey, we highlight some of the standout performances from last week and other recent news with a closer look at the college landscape.

Selects alums cleaned up in the WCHA over the weekend, with Emily Oden (Rookie of the Week), Kristen Campbell (Goalie of the Week) and Mekenzie Steffen (Defenseman of the Week) earning conference honors for the Nov. 2-4 weekend. Oden recorded recorded her second career multi-point game  with two points in Minnesota’s 6-3 win over Bemidji State on Friday. Campbell won back-to-back games between the pipers, allowing one goal in Friday’s 2-1 win and posting a shutout the following night, the 15th of her career. Campbell’s Wisconsin teammate, Steffen enjoyed a career weekend assisting on three of the Badgers’ four goals over the weekend against Minnesota State.

Jaycee Gebhard was the co-leader in women’s college hockey through the month of October, scoring 13 points in 10 games. That effort earned Gebhard College Hockey America’s Player of the Month honors as she’s helped Robert Morris to a 4-1-1 record in the Atlantic Hockey Conference.

Former ‘04 ECS-Q and current Selects Academy at Bishop Kearney forward Avi Adam verbally committed to Cornell University. She will be the 19th Selects alum to do so when she joins the Big Red in 2022.

Brooke Pioske, a member of Team Minnesota at the U-14 World Selects Invitational, also announced her commitment last week, and will join the University of Vermont.

The USCHO.com announced its 15 candidates for the 2019 Senior CLASS Award, among them were two former Selects players. A member of the ‘96 ECS-Q and current Quinnipiac defenseman Chase Priskie and ‘04 Howe and current Ohio State goaltender Sean Romeo made the list of 15, as the finalists must be a current Division-I senior with notable achievements in four areas of excellence including community, classroom, character and competition.

Coincidentally, Romeo also earned Big Ten Conference second star of the week honors with his 23-save effort in Ohio State’s 1-o shutout of No. 5 Notre Dame. It is the sixth time Romeo has earned a B1G weekly award and the first since Feb. 20th of last season.

Christian Felton, a defenseman for ‘00 ECS-Q at the World Selects Invitational in Philadelphia in 2015, announced his commitment to join Bentley University for the 2020-21 season. The 6-foot-1 Ohio native currently plays for Kimball Union Academy.
