With more than 250 Selects alums across Division-I men’s and women’s hockey, we highlight some of the standout performances from last week and other recent news with a closer look at the college landscape.
‘99 ECS-O defenseman Josh Maniscalco and ‘99 Cougars forward Jordan Sandhu helped Arizona State accomplish a little bit of history. In the fourth season at the Division-I level, the Sun Devils cracked the USCHO Coaches’ Poll Top 20 for the first time in program history. Through Arizona State’s first 12 games, Sandhu has one goal and eight points — including three in Friday’s 5-4 win over Michigan State — and Maniscalco has added one goal and five points from the blue line.
Former ‘97 ECS-O and South Kent Selects Academy forward Alex Limoges earned Big Ten Second Star of the Week honors. This is the first time Limoges has earned a weekly award, as he scored two goals and four assists in Penn State’s sweep of Robert Morris last weekend.
Homer Gibson, goalie for the WCS – Green at the 2018 World Selects Invitational in Philadelphia, announced his commitment to join the Miami (OH) Redhawks for the 2022-23 season.
Former ‘00 WCS defenseman Tanner Gates was named ECAC Rookie of the Week, after she picked up a pair of assists for 10th ranked Colgate over the weekend. Gates currently ranks second on the team in scoring as a freshman.
Jincy Dunne earned WCHA Defenseman of the Week honors, leading all conference defenders with two assists and eight shots on goal while blocking another five shots defensively. The redshirt junior from Ohio State currently leads the nation in assists among defensemen with 11 in 14 games.
A pair of ‘04 Selects goaltenders announced their commitments to play Division-I hockey, as Katie DeSa is set to join Penn State for the 2022-23 season and Ava McNaughton plans to join the University of Wisconsin the following season.
Massachusetts native and ‘03 ECS-Q forward Katie Ham became the 24th Selects alum to verbally commit to Boston College. She plans to joins the Eagles for the 2022-23 season.
Long Island University will begin competing as a Division-I program next season. The Blackbirds will do so with Issy Lebrun, an ‘01 Selects alum slated to be a part of history when the start-up program begins competing in the 2019-20 season.
Former ‘01 WCS forward Hana Solinger will also begin her collegiate career next year, as the Ontario native announced her commitment to join the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT).
