Cougars & Renegade Selects: TOURNAMENT INFORMATION
This document is to help inform you about Cougars & Renegade Selects Tournaments and the selection process. This should provide some further clarity to the unique tournament options the Cougars and Renegades Selects have to offer.
A. GENERAL INFORMATION:
There are 2 types of tournaments: AAAandAA. All tournaments are posted online and you are encouraged to visit the website to see the options, www.selectshockey.com, Teams/Cougars Teams. All tournaments are optional and ALL are open to Cougars & Renegades Selects players of AA/AAA caliber players.
B. PROCESS:
1,AAA/AA tournament level, go to your account online and click the 'Coming Events' tab and add the respective tournament event(s). Theevent can then be viewed in "My Accounts" under the "Status" field, where it will read "Submitted". The Team Leaders and the coaches will review these once a week and will update the status to approve, waiting list or reject the application. Rejections are usually a result of the tournament being full. When approved, please process payment to secure your spot. One approved, players need to ensure they have the tournament jersey package which comes with the jersey, socks and a golf shirt.
The approved status gives you the green light to organize your mode of transportation to the tournament.
2. Hotels are booked for all Cougars Selects players and you will receive an email notification with instructions on how to secure a room 4 weeks prior to the tournament. We will do our best to book the group on the same floor but sometimes the hotels are unable to accommodate our request.
3. The Head Coach for the tournament will be designated by the Selects Directors. There will be a contact by email within a week before the tournament, by the office, with team brochure containing the team schedule, roster and other pertinent information for the team.
4. Approximately 5-10 days prior to the tournament, parents of approved players will receive an email from the Coach or Manager with Tournament details such as practice (if applicable – depends of local ice availability) hotel information, Head Coach, full detailed roster and meeting point which is often at the hockey rink an hour and half prior to the first game or at the hotel lobby.
Although I recognize that there may be other questions, I hope that this has helped eliminate the bulk of them. The tournaments are a truly great experience for both players and parents and I hope all are players can experience a couple of them. If there are any impending questions, please feel free to email me at mkaplan@selectshockey.com
